Luz Elena Aponte, “Lucy” as everyone calls her, was born in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to South Florida at the age of ten. Lucy has multiple developmental disabilities including autism, cerebral palsy, intellectual and physical. She has evolved into a creative spirit, who wants to share her abstract creations with the world. Notwithstanding the challenges of her disabilities, with the use of technology and a support team, Lucy is able to create designs that convey a very special meaning and message to those who see and purchase them. Owning a piece of Lucy’s art will give you the inspiration to “Dare to Dream” your goals and move beyond your personal challenges. Lucy is also an active member of the community. She is an advocate for persons with disabilities and presents, with the use of assistive technology and supports, on various topics like self- determination, transition from school to work, Micro-enterprise and others. She inspires others to follow her family’s motto: To Love, To Learn, To Share and To Serve. “Not being able to speak is not the same as not having anything to say, to do, to learn, to dream!”
